This transmission mount is specific to the first-generation Mercedes-Benz Vito (W638), covering both the panel van (Box) and passenger minibus (Bus) body configurations. The W638 Vito shares its M111 petrol and OM601/OM602/OM611 diesel powertrains with other Mercedes-Benz light van products, but employs a Vito-specific transmission mounting geometry.
The W638 Vito is widely used as a taxi and shuttle vehicle, accumulating high mileages in urban stop-start conditions that accelerate rubber fatigue in the transmission mount. Symptoms of a worn mount include audible clonk on drive engagement, vibration transmitted through the floor, and gear selection becoming imprecise. This replacement returns the gearbox to its correct loaded and unloaded position relative to the propshaft and selector linkage.
